  1. When i saw this photo i could hardly believe it.We went to Hartington in the Dovedale valley on what i remember as a basic course in rock climbing. The tall blond young man at the right hand back row could climb a vertical sheet of glass, however, rock climbing was not for me.I was not to be disappointed, one morning we took a bus ride to Irlam and Thorpe cloud and then started the finest days walk anyone could ever take.Over the stepping stones across the dove,up into the village of Mill dale and making our way through magical surroundings and back to our base on the green in lovely Hartington. The men and boys in the photo from top left to right are the ones i can recognise,Mr Rawston,Keith Burdet,Peter Lawson,ArnaldBatty,Mr Martin, Next row,Howard King,Donald Wooley,George Habbergam.Front row.Reggie Bestall,David Batty,Jeff Stevenson,Dereck Brownlow,Ken Liddelow,George Richardson,Peter Savage,Peter Greaves, and Keith Watson. George Habberjam was a very good boyhood friend of mine and although he never joined in with football and suchlike we were together in the church choir and I would call for him every Sunday morning and evening and Wednesday evening for choir practice.I would like to thank you so much for posting this picture,it is a treasure
