  1. In 1979, I met a guy in this pub. He became the father if my daughter. I loved this pub. Btw, we are still good friends. Happy memories

  2. My grandma and grandad worked at the navi for years Mary and Sam Jones and I think Maureen and Geoff were landlords for some time while they were there if anybody remembers them.

  3. My Uncle was Albert Emson who ran that pub at the time. You may remember him as he cut a fairly big figure, being an ex heavyweight boxer.
    I too have very fond memories of our visits there, especially my aunt’s cooking. The first and last time I’ve seen someone make a meringue using only a bowl, a fork and elbow grease.

  4. Fond memories of 45 years ago when Dad was Sheffield United Supporters Chairman. He held meetings in the tap room & Mrs Emson served home made pork pies with minted mushy peas. I would willingly pay a good price to get that quality of food in my pub today! I think she charged 5 shillings.
