  1. Press cutting – April 1971.

Next Tuesday, Mr B.J. Harston retires from teaching, having given almost 44 years continued service with the Derbyshire Education Authority.
On Wednesday he was the recipient of an inscribed gold wrist watch, a combined present from the governors, staff, parents and past and present scholars of Killamarsh Endowed School. At the presentation were Mr N. Black, Divisional Executive Officer; school managers, Mr Harston’s family, present and past members of the staff and scholars.
Educated at Woodhouse Grammar School, Mr Harston served as a student reacher before going to Leeds Training College for Teachers. He was first appointed as an assistant at Beighton Boys’ School, from whence he came to take his appointment as Head of the Killamarsh Endowed School, a position he has held for over 30 years.
In the past he was an enthusiastic worker for the Killamarsh and District Schools Musical Festival Association, to which he was one time secretary, and for the North East Derbyshire Schools Sports.
