When my Mum was working at Tyzacks during the war, she used this station now and again to get into Sheffield Victoria because there was always a nice fire burning in the waiting room during winter. The guard used to let Mum and her friends Mary Kimpton (Kimpo) and Phyllis Barker (both lived in Barracks Yard, next to Mum in Wagstaffe Villas) into the first class compartment. Mum (who is now almost 95) is anxious that the guard doesn’t get into trouble for this!!!
