During WW 2, I was evacuated to Killamarsh as a consequence of the doodlebugs which could be watched flying over my parents house.
On Sunday afternoons, my mother and I would walk to Cats Gallows and watch the procession of steam-hauled coal trains that puffed along the GCR and Midland
railway lines.
